I´m planning to do a "Dialogue as Lyrics" parody style so Which Program should I use , Vegas or After Effects?

So that is the same as I do.

 

I use VideoPad for making my videos and it is fine for making DPMV.

 

Now how to make a DPMV:

 

1) Get the song you like by using Free YouTube to MP3 Converter. I use it myself and to my opinion, it is the finest way to do so. Those mp3 converters on the web are very weak as they only allow you to download in 128 kbp/s which is simply bad. You need at least 192kbp/s for decent quality, 320 kbp/s for top quality.

 

Also, remember to get the instrumental and not the original song. You do not like to see the H-man and the original artist sing at the same time. Go for the real deal, thus the actual song without the vocals. If you pick a karaoke version, it is optional, but not recommended.

 

If the song is featured in Guitar Hero or Rock Band, you can get each instrument individually and edit them the way you like, but that is more advanced. So it is better to start a little more basic.

 

2) Import the Downfall scenes and the instrumental into your video editor.

 

3) Now you make the DPMV.

 

The goal you need to achieve is that the lines Hitler sing are accurate in timing with the original song. It does not need to be full 100%, but make sure it timed well. This might requires a lot of use of speed effects. Most of the time you will slow down the lines. You do not need to do literally word, like I do.

 

If you add some additional lines, for example, where in the actual song is no vocals, you may try, but if you do, make sure it fits well with the music, or you mess up pretty badly.

 

The main advantage of using songs which were in Guitar Hero / Rock Band is that you make Hitler's singing match to the original vocals, and paste it later in the actual video. That is how I mostly do my DPMVs now:

- first I edit the instruments, most time to shorten the track due to the length

- then I do the vocals track, and save it as an individual video

- use that video on the correct moments in the actual DPMV and add the additional scenes during the times there is no singing. NOTE: avoid black bars, unless there is a short period of time where no singing is involved (like no more 1 or 2 seconds)

 

Also, make sure the lines match with the tone of the original vocals. If the pitch is high or there is screaming or so, use aggressive lines of Hitler. If there low or soft singing, use lines where Hitler is more calm.

 

4) Make the lyrics in the subtitles after you finished the video itself. Or skip it, if you are not in the mood to.

 

5) If you after (likely) a couple hours think the video is good enough, then you save and upload it to YouTube.
