As a Californian, I find this to be depressing. Single-payer, which is cheaper (because it removes much of the overload and administrative efficiency of private health insurance) and yields better results, has been blocked by this one man who has received donations from healthcare companies that oppose the proposal. This is just another example of California and the US's deeply flawed political system.
